DESCRIPTION:
Workshop:&nbsp\;Compatibilist&nbsp\;Libertarianism: Advantages and Challenges (October 29\, 2021)

Idea &amp\; Motivation:
\n

Compatibilist&nbsp\;libertarianism&nbsp\;provides a metaphysical foundation for reconciling actualist free will with physical determinism by driving an ontological wedge between different layers of reality (List 2014\, 2019). According to&nbsp\;compatibilist&nbsp\;libertarianism\, free will can exist at higher levels even if the fundamental physical level is deterministic. This workshop is intended to explore the advantages and challenges of&nbsp\;compatibilist&nbsp\;libertarianism&nbsp\;and the progress it brings to the free will debate.

Speakers:

Taylor Cyr (Samford University)
Nadine Elzein (University of Oxford)
Alexander Gebharter (MCMP\, LMU Munich)
Christian List (MCMP\, LMU Munich)
Alfred Mele (Florida State University)
Leonhard Menges (University of Salzburg)
Tuomas Pernu (University of Eastern Finland)
Maria Sekatskaya (DCLPS\, HHU D&uuml\;sseldorf) &nbsp\;
\n
More information about the event:&nbsp\;http://dclps.phil.hhu.de/complib/ &nbsp\; In order to register\, please send an email to&nbsp\;a.gebharter@lmu.de&nbsp\;by October 26\, 2021.
\n
The workshop is jointly organized by the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy\, the D&uuml\;sseldorf Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science\, and the Inductive Metaphysics Research Group.
