DESCRIPTION:<p>The Germany-based student-led Animal Ethics Network (&ldquo\;Tierethiknetzwerk&rdquo\;) organizes a conference for students interested in presenting and discussing diverse topics in Animal Ethics.&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p><strong>Possible Topics</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Animals in wildlife</li>\n<li>Animal rights theory</li>\n<li>Political turn in Animal Ethics</li>\n<li>Speciesism</li>\n<li>Animals in meta-ethics</li>\n<li>Animal Ethics in academia</li>\n<li>Animals in food\, clothing\, testing..</li>\n<li>Animal Ethics and climate change</li>\n<li>Moral status of animals</li>\n<li>Animal minds and Animal Ethics</li>\n<li>Geographical perspectives on hunting</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>These are just exemplary topics. Any topic around Animal Ethics is acceptable. We are also highly interested in interdisciplinary approaches.</p>\n\n<p>We are very happy to confirm the attendance of the following experts\, for students to get feedback on the talks from professionals:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prof. Clare Palmer (Texas A&amp\;M\, USA\; Companion Animal Ethics\, Wildlife Ethics)</li>\n<li>Dr. Eze Paez (Pompeu Fabra\, Spain\; Wildlife Ethics\, Animal Future Ethics)</li>\n<li>Dr. Tatjana Visak (Mannheim\, Germany\; Ethics of Veganism\, Animal Population Ethics)</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>When: </strong>Friday and Saturday\; 14th and 15th January 2022. (Exact time will depend on time zones of participators)</p>\n<p><strong>Where: </strong>Online.</p>\n\n<p><strong>How to apply: </strong>Send an anonymized abstract of max. 500 words <strong><u>OR</u></strong> an anonymized paper of max. 3000 words until <strong><u>November 15th 2021</u></strong> to <a href="mailto:scae.2022@gmail.com">scae.2022@gmail.com</a>. Include your name\, university status group and university in the e-mail. Successful Applicants will be notified by late-November.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Who can apply: </strong>BA\, MA and PhD students. Talks will be balanced among different status groups.</p>\n\n<p>The conference will be held in English. Each talk is 45 minutes\; including a 20-30-minute-long presentation followed by a discussion. We are in talks with a publisher to produce an edited book of selected conference papers. The conference seeks to connect students interested in Animal Ethics\; virtual get-togethers will be arranged. There is no tolerance on discriminatory language or behavior. There is no conference fee.
