DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>NORTH AMERICAN KANT SOCIETY -&nbsp\;SOUTHERN STUDY GROUP 2022 CONFERENCE</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Submission Deadline: January 15\, 2022</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Conference Dates: April 22-23\, 2022</strong></p>\n<p><strong>University of North Carolina\, Wilmington</strong></p>\n<p>The Southern Study Group of the North American Kant Society (NAKS) invites submissions for its annual conference to take place at the University of North Carolina\, Wilmington on Friday and Saturday\, April 22-23\, 2022. Our host this year is Olga Lenczewska.</p>\n<p>Keynote Speaker: Markus Kohl\, UNC-Chapel Hill</p>\n<p>Conference themes and submissions:</p>\n<p>1)&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; We welcome <u>contributions on all topics of Kantian scholarship</u> (contemporary or historically oriented). If you wish to contribute to a general panel on all topics of Kantian scholarship\, please submit a paper (max. 6\,000 words) to Olga Lenczewska atlenczewskao@uncw.edu.</p>\n<p>2)&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; We also welcome <u>contributions to a special panel focused on teaching: <em>How to teach Kant to undergraduate students in an accessible and engaging way?</em></u> If you wish to contribute to this panel\, please submit an abstract of your presentation (300-500 words) to Olga Lenczewska atlenczewskao@uncw.edu.</p>\n<p>3)&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; In addition\, the conference will include <u>a student-oriented session titled </u><em><u>What are the main ideas of Kant&rsquo\;s ethics and how can they help us address the ethical dilemmas of today?</u></em> We plan to divide this session into 2-3 mini-lectures and a round-table discussion with the students. If you would like to co-teach this session (perhaps in addition to presenting a paper in another panel)\, please submit an outline or summary of how you would do it to Olga Lenczewska atlenczewskao@uncw.edu.</p>\n<p>Submission instructions: Submissions should be prepared for blind review and include a word count. Please supply contact information in a separate file. If you are a graduate student\, please indicate this in your contact information.</p>\n<p>The best graduate student paper will receive a $200 stipend and be eligible for the Markus Herz Prize. Women\, minorities\, and graduate students are encouraged to submit. Papers submitted for the Herz prize should not exceed 6\,000 words.</p>\n<p>Papers already read or accepted at other NAKS study groups or meetings may not be submitted. Presenters must be members of NAKS in good standing.</p>\n<p>SNAKS receives support from NAKS and host universities.</p>
