DESCRIPTION:
You are cordially invited to attend the second instalment of the &ldquo\;Kierkegaard and Love Workshop&rdquo\;&nbsp\;hosted byThe Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University on March 17-18\, 2022.
\n
The Human Flourishing Program is an interdisciplinary research center within the Institute for Quantitative Social Science. The Program considers a number of important topics relevant to human flourishing\, which include family\, friendship\, virtue\, community\, work\, love\, beauty\, forgiveness\, religion\, purpose\, and meaning. The Program brings together knowledge across disciplines and integrates such knowledge into a coherent whole\, with the goal of a better understanding of and capacity to promote human well-being.&nbsp\;
\n
The subject of love is central to the Program&rsquo\;s research on well-being and flourishing. It is part of &ldquo\;The Construct and Assessment of Love&rdquo\; grant funded by the John Templeton Foundation. Our hope with the &ldquo\;Kierkegaard and Love Workshop&rdquo\; is to explore Kierkegaard&rsquo\;s rich insights on themes concerning love in his thought and beyond.&nbsp\;
\n
Presenters:
\n
\n
Iben Damgaard University of Copehnagen\, Denmark Figures of Love [KEYNOTE ADDRESS]
\n
Hj&ouml\;rdis Becker-Lindenthal University of Cambridge\, UK Following After Christ: Suffering Out of Love &ndash\; For Whom?
\n
Amber Bowen Redeemer University\, Canada The Limits of Suspicion and the Possibilities of Love
\n
Rob Compaijen Protestant Theological University\, NL Neighbor-Love and Self-Denial: Kierkegaard&rsquo\;s Strenuous Ideal of Human Existence
\n
Thiago Faria Cefet\, Brazil Gratitude\, Love\, and Envy in Kierkegaard
\n
Wojciech Kaftanski Harvard University\, USA Love\, Repetition\, and Commitment
\n
Ariel LaFayette&nbsp\;University of Toronto\, Canada Receiving Kierkegaard's Christian Love through Heidegger's Formal Indication
\n
Elizabeth Li Princeton University\, USA &nbsp\;Kierkegaard on Love and Freedom: Freedom as a Contributory Aspect of Love&nbsp\;
\n
Jakub Marek Charles University in Prague\, Czechia Kierkegaard and the Idea of Formative Love&nbsp\;
\n
Frances Maughan-Brown\, College of the Holy Cross\, USA Abraham's Love: Agacinski on Kierkegaard
\n
Tom Millay St. Olaf College\, USA Un-modern Love
\n
Dar Triffon Reshef University of Notre Dame\, USALoving as Yourself
\n
Walter Wietzke University of Wisconsin\, USA Love\, Marriage\, and Boredom
\n
\n
HYBRID FORMAT:
\n
In-Person presence to be confirmed via an email: wkaftanski@fas.harvard.edu
\n
Online: Register under this link to receive a ZOOM LINK:&nbsp\;https://hfh.fas.harvard.edu/SKandLoveRegistration
\n\n
More about the workshop under this link:&nbsp\;https://hfh.fas.harvard.edu/kierkegaard-and-love-workshop
