LOCATION:Max-Planck-Ring 4\, Tuebingen\, Germany\, 72076
DESCRIPTION:
Machine learning methods have gained relevance not only in the scientific community\, but also from an epistemological and ethical perspective. In line with the main PhilML conference (https://philevents.org/event/show/96590)\, the Graduate Workshop aims to explore the focal points of machine learning\, AI and philosophy. We are interested in the work of researchers from different areas of philosophy\, as well as machine learning scientists. Our aim is to bring together different perspectives on machine learning in order to grasp how these new methods affect society\, knowledge and other disciplines. The main topics of interest of the workshop comprise (but are not limited to) explainable AI\, the intersection between machine learning and the social sciences\, and the ethics of AI.
\n
We invite work in progress by current graduate students. To contribute\, please submit an anonymized abstract (500 words\, not including references) to philmlgraduateworkshop[at]gmail[dot]com until March 18\, providing full contact and affiliation details in the body of the e-mail. To foster high-quality feedback\, the workshop will be held in a pre-read format\, so upon acceptance\, we also invite the submission of short papers (5.000 words\, not including references) that will be made available to the participants of the workshop.
\n
Abstract submission deadline: March 18\, 2022
\n
Notification of acceptance: April 29\, 2022
\n
Paper submission deadline: September 19\, 2022
\n
The workshop is organized by the Cluster of Excellence &lsquo\;Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science&rsquo\; at the University of T&uuml\;bingen. In addition to an invited keynote speaker\, we intend to select six speakers to present their works. Further questions and inquiries can be directed to philmlgraduateworkshop[at]gmail[dot]com
\n
Further information can (soon) be found at the website:https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/research/core-research/cluster-of-excellence-machine-learning/events/
\n
For researchers\, who do not have internal funding\, we are able to cover (some) of the costs for travel and lodging (the details need to be discussed once the accepted papers have been selected).
