DESCRIPTION:<p>This major academic conference in 2022 is organized by a consortium of seven universities in the Netherlands.&nbsp\;The focus will be on those new technologies that are disruptive and transformative of society: artificial intelligence\, robotics\, neurotechnology\, synthetic biology\, 3D printing\, energy transition technologies\, and others. The Call for Abstracts is now open\, see esdit.nl/conferences/Esdit2022</p>\n<p>The objective of the conference is to study and ethically assess the transformative consequences of these emerging technologies\, of social institutions\, the environment\, human relations\, personal identities\, thought and language. There will be a particular focus on challenges of disruptive technologies to key concepts and values\, like &ldquo\;truth&rdquo\;\, &ldquo\;agency&rdquo\;\, &ldquo\;democracy&rdquo\;\, &ldquo\;human nature&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;life. Thirteen tracks on different subjects are available.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This is a conference organized by the ESDiT consortium. ESDiT (an acronym for &ldquo\;Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies&rdquo\;) is a decade-spanning international research programme to achieve break-through research at the intersection of ethics\, philosophy and technology / engineering. It is carried by seven academic institutions in The Netherlands\, and has a combined budget of &euro\; 27 million. The programme is closely affiliated with the 4TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology (4TU.Ethics) and the Ethics Institute of Utrecht University.
