DESCRIPTION:<p>For several years since UNESCO officially proclaimed The World Logic Day to be celebrated each year on January 14\, numerous events have been held worldwide that bring the intellectual history\, conceptual significance\, and practical implications of logic to the attention of a variety of science communities and the broader public. As academic life has been severely affected by the COVID-19 crisis\, the logic event could not be held in Vilnius in January this year. The Institute of Philosophy of Vilnius University thus extends the celebration and organises the workshop on <em>Logic and Philosophy: Historical and Contemporary Issues</em> on <strong>May 27-28\, 2022 </strong>in Vilnius\, Lithuania.</p>\n<p>A live in-person event is realistically expected\, but in case of unpredictable and extreme public health circumstances it will be moved online or to hybrid format.</p>\n<p>The workshop aims to be a venue for philosophical discussions on logic broadly construed. Talks are welcome that address issues related to classical or non-classical logic\, formal or informal logic\, modal logic and metaphysics of logic\, history of logic and philosophical applications of logic\, including the relationship between logic and other fields of research.</p>\n<p>A special session dedicated to John Buridan&rsquo\;s theory of modal syllogism is planned as part of the programme\, and related talks are particularly welcome.</p>\n<p><strong>Invited Speakers:</strong></p>\n<p>Prof. Hanoch Ben-Yami (Central European University)</p>\n<p>Prof. Valentin Goranko (Stockholm University)</p>\n<p>Prof. Daniel Nolan (University of Notre Dame)</p>\n<p>Prof. Gabriel Sandu (University of Helsinki)</p>\n<p>Prof. Nick Zangwill (University College London)</p>\n<p><strong>Abstract Submission:</strong></p>\n<p>Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts (up to 300 words) of their intended talks.
