DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for papers&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>(French version below)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Workshop for Young Researchers&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Francophone Society for Analytic Philosophy (SoPhA)&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>May 31-June 2\, 2022&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>University of Geneva&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Switzerland<strong>&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>The University of Geneva will host the SoPhA Workshop for Young Researchers from May 31 to June 2\, 2022.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for PhD students and early career researchers (up to three years after the PhD) to present their work and receive constructive feedback from their peers and faculty members.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This year&rsquo\;s topic is &ldquo\;Mental States and their Epistemic Roles&rdquo\;. We invite submissions on this topic\, broadly construed. Potential questions include:&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do different mental states provide different modes of access to reality?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Does doxastic justification presuppose the ability to control our beliefs?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Can desires on their own justify our actions?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Does perception provide reasons?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Does pleasure play an epistemic role in aesthetic appreciation and art criticism?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Does memory provide a privileged mode of access to the past?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Is imagination a source of knowledge and justification?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Are emotions necessary to have epistemic access to values?&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>What is the role of suspension of judgment in inquiry?&nbsp\;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Submission guidelines&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>Accepted papers will be allocated 50 minutes (30 minutes for presentation + 20 minutes for Q&amp\;A).&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>There will be a total 15 slots for talks\, with no parallel sessions. The languages of the workshop are French and English.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Authors should submit a 500-word abstract (excluding references) outlining the main claim and argument of the paper. Abstracts should be prepared for blind-review and be sent to&nbsp\;santiago.echeverri@filosoficas.unam.mx&nbsp\;until&nbsp\;<strong>April 15\, 2022</strong>.
