DESCRIPTION:<p>The conference seeks to convene Latin American philosophers and legal scholars devoted to the study of the epistemological aspects of the practice&nbsp\;of law\, or whose experience in the legal field is relevant to legal&nbsp\;epistemology\, One of the goals of the conference is to build an academic&nbsp\;community of Latin American scholars interested in legal epistemology\, and&nbsp\;to provide a space for the discussion of current work on the subject.&nbsp\;Among&nbsp\;the topics suggested are the following:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Legal reasoning and legal rules of inference</li>\n<li>Burden and standards of proof</li>\n<li>Criteria for legal relevance</li>\n<li>Scientific evidence</li>\n<li>Expert testimony</li>\n<li>Evidence\, causation\, and responsibility</li>\n<li>Epistemic and procedural virtues</li>\n<li>Presumptions</li>\n<li>Bayesian vs. non-Bayesian approaches to the Law</li>\n<li>The relation between legal and social epistemology</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Submission Guidelines</p>\n<p>Please submit an abstract in Word\, PDF\, or RTF format. The abstract should&nbsp\;be between 500 and 1000 words\, and it should present the main argument of&nbsp\;the paper. The allocated time for delivering contributed papers at the&nbsp\;conference will be 40 minutes\, including discussion.
