Details

The Hamilton College Summer Program in Philosophy (HCSPiP) is a two week intensive undergraduate summer school in philosophy. We bring together 20 ambitious undergraduates, 3 instructors, and 3 graduate student tutors, for three exciting courses. What sets the HCSPiP apart from other summer philosophy programs and institutes is its focus on pedagogy and pedagogical innovation. We choose courses for their promise of innovation and engagement and give instructors the opportunity to experiment freely. The HCSPiP culminates, for instructors and tutors, in a conference on pedagogy. During the conference, instructors reflect on their experiences, and share what they’ve learned from their recent experimentation in the classroom. In addition, a keynote speaker gives a talk on a topic related to philosophical pedagogy. This year the conference will be livestreamed on Zoom, in an attempt to broaden our impact on the profession.
