Although Félix Guattari later abandoned the term ‘institutional analysis’, the project underpinning it - namely, the task of making “discernible a domain that was neither that of institutional therapy, nor institutional pedagogy, nor that of the struggle for social emancipation, but which invoked an analytic method that could traverse these multiple fields (from which came the theme ‘transversality’)” (Guattari Reader, p 121) - remained constant throughout his life's work and can be taken as the core concern of what he subsequently called ‘Schizoanalysis’. This workshop will explore some of the different ways by which Deleuze and Guattari’s thought did in fact make discernible this new domain of practical and theoretical inquiry. We are privileged in this regard to be joined by Professor Barbara Glowczewski, who as a post–doctoral fellow was able to work closely with Guattari himself.
