On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Philip Kitcher (Columbia University) will be visiting the Faculty of Philosophy on 7 and 8 November 2013. The Faculty of Philosophy organises two events with Philip Kitcher during these days.

7 November: Workshop with Philip Kitcher

During a one day workshop on Thursday 7 November two recent books by Philip Kitcher will be discussed by a panel of philosophers. Kitcher will respond to the papers presented. The book for the morning session will be The Ethical Project (2011) and the afternoon session will be on Science in a Democratic Society (2011). The workshop will take place in De Pappegay in the city centre of Rotterdam and costs €20,- including lunch.

8 November: Public lecture

Friday 8 November 2013 Philip Kitcher will give a public lecture "Religion, Truth and Progress" in De Doelen in Rotterdam. The lecture will be introduced by the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy Jack Vromen and will take place between 10h00 and 12h00.
