CFP: Special Issue: "Existentialism and Cinema"

Submission deadline: December 1, 2014

Topic areas

Details

Most of the Twentieth century art has been often related with contemporary philosophy’s issues. Artistic movements like Futurism and Cubism or artwork by Giacometti and Malević are deeply permeated with philosophical contents.

Since its birth, Cinema had been related to philosophy. Directors like Bergman, Dreyer and Tarkovskij, conveyed in their production an anthropological view which completes and somehow goes beyond the pure aesthetical dimension.

We accept papers (maximum length 45000 characters, spaces included) dealing with the relationship between Existentialism and Cinema. We accept proposals dealing with a single movie, a single author, a single movement, or different movies and different authors. The papers should clearly show the philosophical contents emerging from the authors or the movie considered.

Authors should send an abstract (max 500 words) to the following e-mail address by Dec 1st 2014: [email protected] with the indication “Per la filosofia-Existentialism and Cinema” in the subject heading. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed and the acceptance or refusal of the submission will be notified by Dec 15th 2014. The Editorial board reserves the faculty not to accept the final drafts that do not correspond to submitted abstracts, or do not pass the further selection process to which final drafts will be submitted. Moreover, the Editorial board reserves the faculty to ask the Authors to revise their contributions to fit them to the referees’ evaluations and/or editorial standards.

Abstracts and contributions can be submitted in Italian and English. The final draft must be submitted by January 30, 2015, to undergo the further selection process: the definitive answer on acceptance and eventual requested revisions will be given by February 28th 2015.

Submitted papers are expected to meet the following requirements:

- All papers must be accompanied with an abstract (150 words) and 4 keywords.

- Papers must be prepared for a blind review – authors’ personal information should be included in a separate attachment only.
