Teaching Philosophy Online

The APA/AAPT Teaching Hub

The APA Committee on the Teaching of Philosophy and the APA Committee on Philosophy in Two-Year Colleges seek panelists for a session on teaching philosophy online as part of the APA/AAPT Teaching Hub at the APA Pacific Division meeting, March 28-April 1, 2018 in San Diego, CA.

The session will consist of three to four brief presentations (approximately 15 minutes in length) on teaching philosophy in an online and/or hybrid format. Topics might include: distinct challenges to teaching philosophy in a virtual environment, innovative online teaching strategies, effective approaches to teaching a specific philosophical text online, etc.

Interactive presentations that are focused on audience learning are preferred. Submissions from faculty at all types of institutions of higher learning, including community colleges, will be considered.

Submissions: Proposals of no more than 500 words, prepared for anonymous review, should be sent to Aaron Champene, [email protected] by September 15, 2017. As part of the proposal, please provide a brief description of your online teaching experience.

Deadline for proposals: September 15, 2017
Selection of Presenters: October 1, 2017 (expected)
