The Philosophy Department of Bowling Green State University invites submissions to its 6th annual Graduate Student Workshop in Applied Philosophy. While we accept submissions in any area of applied philosophy, this year's theme focuses on individual and collective responsibility with respect to applied issues.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together graduate scholars working in applied philosophy topics to encourage constructive discussion and debate. Each presenter will be given an undivided audience, a commentator and at least 20 minutes for questions.

Marion Smiley, J.P Morgan Chase Professor of Philosophy, Brandeis University
Mark Budolfson, Assistant Professor, University of Vermont, Fellow, Gund Institute for Enviornment
Submission Guidelines
We invite the submission of papers on any topic in applied philosophy, though preference will be given to papers related to workshop theme: Broadening the Scope of Moral Considerations. Papers should ideally be under 4000 words. Please prepare for blind review. Send your paper in an acceptable format (acceptable formats: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .rtf) as an attachment to the following email address: [email protected].
Please use the following as your subject line: “BGSU Workshop [your last name].” In the body of the e-mail, please include the following information:
1. Paper title
2. Author’s name
3. Brief abstract (under 150 words)
4. Institutional affiliation and graduate program
5. Contact e-mail address and phone number
6. Statement granting permission to distribute your paper to graduate students serving on the workshop committee and to commentators
Commentators
Each paper will have a commentator. If you are not submitting a paper, but are interested in commenting please send an email to [email protected] detailing availability and areas of interest. Persons whose papers were submitted but not included in the workshop may be invited to participate as commentators.
