Submission deadline: October 31, 2018

Details

The Thought Trust intends to award in academic session 2019-20 two Conference Grants of up to £5,000 and invites applications accordingly. The headline conditions are as follows:

that the Conference should take place in the UK

that the Conference theme and content should be recognised by the Thought Trustees as Philosophy that is practised in the analytic tradition (broadly construed)

that the primary applicant should be a researcher at Postdoctoral or more advanced level who has an affiliation to an appropriate UK institution

that the Conference Grant will be awarded on a Matching Funding basis with the applicant proving a provisional commitment from another source to supply an amount not less than the Conference Grant applied for.

Applications should have three parts:

(Part A) A clear indication of the theme of the Conference along with an intellectual justification for its taking place, an indication of potential participants, a statement of those who will be eligible to attend and of provisions made for free or subsidised attendance.

(Part B) A logistical case indicating the time and place at which the Conference will take place along with a financial projection (in significant detail) of how money will be spent in total (Thought Conference Grant plus matching funding).

(Part C) A letter of commitment from an appropriate body indicating that matching funding will be forthcoming in the event that a Thought Conference Grant is secured.

In deciding the award of Conference Grants, the Thought Trustees will give significant weight to provision that is made for the inclusion of Early Career Researchers.

Initial expressions of interest and queries should be sent to

Professor John Divers (University of Leeds) [email protected]

The closing date for receipt of applications is October 31st 2018.

The relevant Conference is to take place between September 1st 2019 and August 31st 2020.
