CFP: Special issue on semantics and epistemology in the digital age, Inquiry

Submission deadline: December 31, 2018

Details

Analytic philosophers are increasingly theorizing in the real world: about real-life language use, replete with slurs and bullshit, and about real-life epistemology, as when propaganda and gaslighting epistemically impoverish their targets. To encourage such work, Inquiry seeks papers for a special issue on semantics and epistemology in the digital age. Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the semantics and pragmatics of digital communication (posting, tweeting, liking, upvoting), the nature and importance (or non-existence and unimportance) of fake news, propaganda, social media echo chambers, big data and AI and its biases, and other problems.

Papers should be prepared for anonymous review, no longer than 8,000 words, and submitted via https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/inquiry. The deadline is 31st December 2018. Questions should be directed to mipmckeever at gmail dot com.
