4th EPHES International Conference – 2019: Artificial Intelligence and Mind

We are confronting major challenges in the understanding of mind and artifactual intelligence.

The 4th EPHES International Conference (EPHES 2019 – AIM), under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Mind” is an interdisciplinary event exploring the perspectives, and challenges in the philosophical study (largo sensu) of the artifactual intelligence and mind.

We invite philosophers, cognitive scientists, computing and information researchers, social scientists and other scholars investigating the artificial intelligence-mind relationship for state-of-the-art research papers.

The submissions are expected but not limited by the following topics:

1.     Perspectives in the artificial intelligence (AI) / artificial general intelligence (AGI) study

2.     Controversial concepts in the philosophy of mind

3.     STS/cultural/philosophical attitudes towards AGI/mind relationship

4.     Mind and information uploading/downloading

5.     AGI/mind interfaces/interactions

6.     AI/AGI and the barrier of meaning

7.     Real life phenomena and metaphors in the AGI’s studies

8.     Challenges in the AGI/mind study

9.     Philosophy of film towards AGI/mind relationship

10.  AGI and the future of humankind

11.  Technological Singularity and theology/theologies

12.  Research and academic ethics related to AI/AGI and mind studies

NEW & IMPORTANT! Notification of acceptance will follow up to JUNE 30 2019  May 31 2019.

The submission of the 1st draft is foreseen for the end of July 2019.

All abstracts and papers will be double blind peer reviewed.

The 2nd draft has to be submitted, based on and after the conference, up to October 31 2019.

The publication is foreseen at the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.

One special issue, with selected papers, will be published in an ISI, ERIH+, EBSCO, SCOPUS indexed journal.

A Proceedings book, with selected papers, will be published by an international printing house.

The language of publication will be English.

The recommended size for an article is from 4000 to up to 5000 words.

The registration fee is 25 euros or equivalent.
