Whilst physician assisted suicide (PAS) has been widely discussed in the relevant philosophical literature, questions surrounding the ethics of non-physician assisted suicide (non-PAS) have been relatively under-explored. This workshop aims to fill this lacuna by exploring the ethical status of non-PAS, focusing on the question of whether it is morally permissible to assist someone to end their life, and -- if so -- whether and in what circumstances non-PAS should be made legal.
Speakers are Isra Black (University of York), Michael Cholbi (California State Polytechnic University, Pomona), Christopher Cowley (UCD), Naomi Richards (University of Glasgow), Peter Schaber (University of Zürich), and Tatjana von Solodkoff (UCD).
The schedule for the event can be found here: www.ucd.ie/cepl/newsandevents/2019/assistedsuicideworkshopoctober2019
Attendance is free, but please register by sending an email to Dr. Tatjana von Solodkoff, [email protected].
The workshop is financially supported by the Mind Association, the Society of Applied Philosophy, and the Centre of Ethics in Public Life at UCD.
