The Centre for Moral and Political Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites applications for the Centre’s annual summer PhD workshop. This year’s topic is “Politics between Utopia and a Troubled World” (for further details, see:, and it is coordinated by David Enoch. We will invite up to 6 PhD students to spend about 6 weeks, from May 19th 2020, as fellows with the Centre to work on their own research and exchange ideas with each other and members of the CMPP. Fellows will attend distinguished guest lecturer David Estlund’s condensed graduate class from June 9th. Fellows will be expected to attend the Centre’s annual conference (on the same topic) to be held on June 24-26. Confirmed participants include Dani Attas (Hebrew U), Candice Delmas (Northeastern University), Avner De-Shalit (Hebrew U), David Estlund (Brown), Rainer Forst (Goethe University), Amanda Greene (UCL),Helene Landemore (Yale), Zoltan Miklosi (CEU), Miriam Ronzoni (Manchester), Assaf Sharon (Tel Aviv University), Cynthia Stark (Utah).

The Centre will pay for the trip to Jerusalem, provide accommodation near the university, and pay a scholarship of approximately $3000 (depending on current exchange rates) for the six week period. Successful applicants will be outstanding PhD students whose work is related to the project’s topic and who are in the dissertation stage of their program.
