The Philosophers: SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR

Simone de Beauvoir was the writer of The Second Sex, led the vanguard of mid-twentieth-century feminism, and was central to the circle of French existentialists. But how relevant is she today? We revisit de Beauvoir’s most famous works and consider her role in contemporary philosophy. We look at new translations of her fiction and ask how critical intersectional approaches might challenge how we think about her ideas.
