Theory Collective: Theorizing the Political

November 2021 - May 2022

Call for Papers

In its 10th anniversary year, Theory Collective is inviting paper proposals that deal with the question of the political, and the notion of political theory itself. We are concerned with what has been counted as ‘political’, what has been revoked that status, and how such disqualified practices challenge the very notion of politics itself. Theory Collective is seeking papers that broadly address, but are by no means limited to, these questions in ways that attempt to theorize politics and the political otherwise.

Theory Collective at the New School for Social Research is a workshop intended to provide valuable feedback and critique on ongoing conference papers, articles, masters theses, dissertation proposals and chapters. Once a month this student-led collective will examine work submitted by two of our members, with each conversation kicked off by a chosen discussant.

This year, Theory Collective will continue to be held online and, hence, open participation to all graduate students regardless of their location or institution. Regular attendance is expected in order to ensure a thorough discussion of each paper.

Please apply through this google-form with a short abstract (300-word max) by October 14, 2021. Participants will be notified by October 18. Theory Collective 2021-2022 workshops will be held once a month beginning in November and ending in May.
