DESCRIPTION:
The topic this year is AI and philosophy\, broadly construed.
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming our society\, scientific practices\, and our understanding of the human mind. The rise of sophisticated AI systems raises profound philosophical questions across multiple disciplines. The intersection of philosophy and AI is more relevant than ever. Machine learning reshapes scientific discovery and knowledge production\, while algorithmic systems raise urgent ethical questions regarding bias and value alignment. Simultaneously\, advancements in generative AI and artificial cognition force us to revisit foundational debates about creativity\, consciousness\, and agency.
This conference invites submissions that address foundational and applied issues at the intersection of philosophy and artificial intelligence. Possible topics include\, but are not limited to:
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; ethics of AI (e.g.\, algorithmic bias\, value alignment\, moral status of AI)\,
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; AI in scientific discovery and practice\,
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; epistemology of AI (e.g.\, can LLMs testify\, epistemic trust in machines)\,
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; AI consciousness and philosophy of mind\,
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; aesthetics of AI-generated art and creativity\,
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; the alignment problem and existential risk\,
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; explainable AI (XAI) and understanding\,
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; the nature of artificial agency\, and
&bull\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\; human-AI interaction and cognitive enhancement.
\n
To apply\, you must send us an abstract of your work\, approximately 500 words long (suitable for a 20&ndash\;25-minute presentation). Send your abstract and your personal information\, by July 19\, via the&nbsp\;following form.
\n
Deadline for submissions: July 19\, 2026.
\n
We would appreciate it if the abstracts sent were in English\, as that will be the official working language of the conference.
\n
Conference fee is 10 &euro\;.
\n
If enough participants are interested\, they can publish their work in a peer-reviewed student compendium\, which will be reviewed by faculty professors.&nbsp\;
\n
Please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to your applications.

\n

DESCRIPTION:
Call for Abstracts We welcome abstracts of approximately 500 words. Presentations will be 45 minutes long\, followed by 15 minutes of discussion.
\n
Submissions link: https://forms.gle/gtpb5yY254Fqpcx29
\n
Deadline: September 20th\, 2026.
\n
***
\n
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Maribor is pleased to announce an international symposium reflecting on the enduring legacy of Thomas Kuhn&rsquo\;s The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. Marking approximately 65 years since its publication\, this event seeks to move beyond a purely historical retrospective\, exploring "Kuhn after Kuhn"&mdash\;the continued evolution of his concepts within contemporary philosophical practice.
\n
Kuhn&rsquo\;s notions of paradigms and scientific revolutions have long transcended the history of science. Today\, they serve as vital frameworks for understanding the structure of research practices\, the shifts in epistemic standards\, and the normative boundaries within which conceptual change occurs.
\n
We invite contributions that engage with Kuhnian themes across the breadth of analytic philosophy. We particularly encourage submissions that demonstrate how paradigms\, incommensurability\, and progress are currently being redefined in fields such as:
\n
\n
Philosophy of Science &amp\; Epistemology: Scientific pluralism\, theory-ladenness\, and paradigms as epistemic or social frameworks.
\n
Ethics &amp\; Political Philosophy: The nature of moral revolutions\, shifts in normative frameworks\, and the evolution of political "paradigms of action."
\n
AI &amp\; Cognitive Science: Conceptual change within research programs and the impact of paradigm shifts on the study of mind and intelligence.
\n
Aesthetics: Paradigm shifts in artistic movements and the structure of creative progress.
\n
Metaphysics: The ontological status of objects across theoretical transitions and the problem of realism vs. anti-realism.
\n
\n
The symposium aims to foster a dialogue on the broader questions of how progress is achieved and how conceptual frameworks evolve across diverse human practices
\n
