Symposium in the Memory of Amélie Rorty

We would like to honor Amélie Rorty not only because she was a valued Visiting Professor in our department for several years but, also, because of her important contributions to philosophy as a scholar, editor, and educator during an area when our profession was not so hospitable to women. The idea is to put on a symposium that is very much in her spirit, though not directly on her work. The three lectures will be in the history of philosophy, and the event will be organized such as to be conducive to philosophical conversations á la Amélie.
