Peter Hacker is an emeritus research fellow at St John's College Oxford, where he was tutor in philosophy from 1966 to 2006 and is now an Honorary Fellow. He was educated at The Queen's College, Oxford and St Anthony's College, Oxford. He held a part time chair in philosophy at the University of Kent from 2013 to 2016, and is an honorary professor of University College, London in the UCL Institute of Neuroscience from 2019 to 2024. He has specialized in the philosophy of Wittgenstein, philosophy of mind, philosophy of neuroscience, and philosophical anthropology. His most recent works are a tetralogy on human nature (2007-22), a much extended second edition of Philosophical Foundations of Neuroscience (2022) co-authored with M.R. Bennett, and Intellectual Entertainments: Eight Dialogues on Mind, Consciousness and Thought (2020).
