Regular Submissions
Submission deadline: November 1st, 2022

Papers in all areas of philosophy are welcome. All papers are to be prepared for anonymous review (remove all author identifying information).

Papers submitted for inclusion in the regular program must be prepared for anonymous review and limited to a reading time of 30 minutes (approximately 12 double-spaced pages and usually not more than 4,000 words). Presentation time for the regular program is 50 minutes (30 minutes reading time and 20 minutes discussion).

All papers should include a cover page with the following:

  • Paper title
  • Author information
  • Whether the paper is to be considered for a student award
  • A 150-word abstract

Outstanding Graduate Paper Award (GPA) Competition
Graduate students submitting papers for the regular program may also elect to have their papers considered for the Outstanding Graduate Paper Award. The author of the winning paper will receive a monetary award ($100) and be invited to present their paper at a special session at the conference. Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible.

Papers may be any length, but 15 double-spaced pages are recommended.

FPA Award in Public Philosophy
This year, we will also give the FPA Award in Public Philosophy, made possible via a generous donation from Regina Rini (York). The award will be attributed to the best graduate essay addressing an issue of contemporary public significance. The author of the winning paper will receive a monetary award ($250) and will be invited to present their paper at a special session at the conference. Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible. Students should not submit an additional paper for consideration. They may elect to have their paper considered for the award.

Undergraduate Paper Awards (UPA) Competition
Undergraduate students may submit papers for special award consideration, depending on which of the following awards they are competing for:

  • The Gerritt and Edith Schipper Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Philosophy Paper in a Four-Year College or University, or
  • The Outstanding Undergraduate Paper in a Two-Year College.

The author of the winning paper will receive a monetary award ($100) and be invited to present their paper at a special session at the conference. Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible.

Papers may be any length, but 15 double-spaced pages are recommended.

Submission deadline: November 1st, 2022

To submit a proposal for a panel session, the panel organizer should prepare and submit a panel presentation document with the following components:

  • Panel title
  • Participants
  • A panel abstract which constitutes an overview statement of the theme of the panel
  • A panel brief by each of the proposed panel members. A panel brief is text that is (or would be the basis of) the panelist's intended presentation.
