Keynote speakers:

Prof Toby Miller(Cultural Studies, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Mexico, and Murdoch University)

This year the Colloquium will have two sections:

·       A general section for papers from all areas of philosophy

·       A special section of 4 papers on the theme “Philosophy, Violence, and Human Rights”. This section explores links between ideas and concepts in philosophy, human rights discourse and practice and violence in the broadest sense.

As always, we encourage contributions from all philosophical traditions, as well as from other disciplines that take into account philosophical questions. Work presented can be polished and close to publication, recently published, or work-in-progress, or non-traditional research outputs (films, etc.).

The Colloquium is a forum for the exchange of ideas in a supportive, collegial atmosphere. It aims to strengthen the ties between academic philosophers in Western Australia, as well as reaching out to colleagues in other disciplines, students and to the wider philosophy community.

The Colloquium is open to academics, undergraduate and postgraduate students. A certificate will be awarded for the best student paper. The Colloquium will be followed by drinks, nibbles and more discussion after the event. We will conclude the evening with a collegial dinner in Fremantle, location tba.
