Description

Models and theories are fundamental to science: building, testing, comparing, and revising models and theories define scientific activity. Not surprisingly, therefore, the nature of scientific models and theories has been a subject of much discussion in the philosophy of science for many years.

In his recent book Models and Theories (Routledge, 2022),Roman Frigg systematizes two decades of research and provides us with a clear and critical introduction to the debates on models and theories in the analytical philosophy of science since the 1920's.

In this meeting, Roman will examine the main issues in the philosophy investigation on models and theories covered in his book. The meeting will be followed by an open debate.
