Two affiliated symposia will be held on June 7:

“From Evidence Based Medicine to Evidence Based Psychiatry?” organized by C. Amoretti, L. Bortolotti, E. Lalumera

“Extending Lifespan: Theoretical, Ethical and Socio-economic Aspects” organized by M. Benzi, A. Blasimme

Venue

The 10th biennial Philosophy of Medicine Roundtable will be held at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, organized by the Department of Philosophy and Communication Studies, the Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences, and by the Inter-University Research Centre on Health and Disease (PhilHeaD).

Call for Abstracts 

Although the talks by the invited speakers will be on the topic “Modeling and Treating Complex Diseases”, we welcome philosophical papers on all aspects of health and medicine (except applied medical ethics). 

To submit a paper, please send a 500-word abstract to [email protected] by January 15, 2022. Abstracts will undergo blinded review and should not contain information that will allow identification of the author. Contributed papers will be allocated a 30 min slot (including discussion). A poster session will be held as well, on June 8.

When submitting your 500-word blinded abstract please indicate “Submission to IPMR10 – Your Name and Surname” as the subject of the email. In the body of your email please specify:

– your name, affiliation, and the title of the paper.

– whether you wish to be considered for an early career fellowship (see below). In this case, please also indicate your career stage..

– whether you wish to be considered for an oral presentation, a poster presentation, or both.

Submission deadline: January 15, 2023

Notification of acceptance: in about six weeks

Conference dates: June 8-9, 2023

Fellowships

Five fellowships (up to 500 euros each) will be offered to early career scholars who are willing to take part in the conference. All early career scholars who are presenting a paper at the conference are eligible and can indicate whether they want to be considered for the grant as part of the submission process. Awardees will be selected based on submission quality as emerged from the reviewers’ scores (in case of equal judgment, the candidate at an earlier career stage will have precedence). After decisions have been made, selected early career scholars will be contacted by the organizers.
