 “If there is a modern age, it is, of course, the age of the cosmic.” (Deleuze and Guattari, A Thousand Plateaus)

This virtual exhibition is intended to favour dialogue among artists, art lovers, art historians, Deleuze scholars, scientists, as well as amateur astronomers. It gathers visual art works (painting, drawing, cinema/video, multimedia) and musical works from local, national, international and Deleuze-inspired artists, and/or art works reflecting the topics.

The idea is to build a virtual catalogue of contemporary art works inspired by Deleuze and Guattari’s conception of the cosmic, or art works that connect implicitly with Deleuze and Guattari’s sense of cosmicity. This catalogue is meant to remain incomplete, just like the uni/multi-verse itself which is eternally in the midst of its own composition…

This virtual exhibition is intended to be inclusive as it leaves room to artworks coming from the fields of music, painting, cinema/video, photography, architecture, and drawing. So many artistic genres that Deleuze and Guattari read, commented, problematised, in short integrated to their thought. We chose not to include literary works as they do not go along well with this kind of exhibition project, though Deleuze et Guattari also explore cosmic themes in modern literature.

Three groups of artists have been identified, each one making up a part of the exhibition:

  1. INVENTIONS: Artists who inspired Deleuze and Guattari’s idea of modern cosmic art;
  2. AFFECTS: Artists who answered our ‘Call for Artists’ and who developed their work, in part or in totality, in favor of an exploration of the Deleuzo-Guattarian’s conceptuality;
  3. ENCOUNTERS: Artists inspired by Deleuze and Guattari and whose work is, in part or in totality,  linked to the exhibition’s theme.
