I confirm that the date and venue of the Summer meeting on Plato’s Laws, with Dr. Brendan O’Byrne (Trinity College, Dublin) will be from Fri. August 30th. to Sun. September 1st. 2013, at the address below. POSSIBLE papers might include “The Constitution in Plato’s “Laws” and “Republic””, “Law in Plato’s “Laws” and in Hegel’s Philosophy”, “Why Study Plato’s “Laws””, “On Erotic Education”, “On the Viability of the Nocturnal Council” and “Why no Socrates?”. There may well be other papers too. The recommended book is Plato: The Laws tr. by Trevor Saunders (Penguin Classic 2004 (£15) ISBN No. 978-0140449846) (paperback). Further details are available. Tea and coffee breaks are NOT included in the cost, and there is NO evening meal on the Friday. The charge is for B&B only for 2 nights. Saturday and Sunday lunches have to be paid for separately. Please make sure you send in your application on the tear-off slip below, returning a deposit of £35 by JULY 15th. 2013. I have made a reservation for a restaurant on the Saturday evening; this cost is not included in the total cost of £99 or £115 (for better occupancy), first come first served. The 2014 Spring meeting on Plato’s Gorgias will occur during the weekend of March 21st.-23rd. 2014 at the Ivydene Guest House Eastbourne, with the assistance, we hope, of Dr. Brendan O’Byrne and Jon Taylor (formerly of Great Falls University).
