Call for Abstracts: This workshop aims to explore the epistemic legacies of the curriculum and pedagogical practices of U.S. Boarding Schools for Native American children. Proposed topics would ideally focus on ways in which these curriculum and pedagogical practices impacted, and continue to impact, western educational institutions, and how these institutions (past and present) cause epistemic harm to Native students. Abstracts should, in some way, aim to identify those harms and how western educational institutions and practices have been weaponized against Natives. Please send submissions as a PDF to [email protected] no later than March 31st, 2023. Submissions should include: (1) an abstract of no more than 500 words for a proposed paper, and (2) a biographical statement (name, tribal affiliation (if any), academic standing (e.g., grad student, instructor, assistant professor, etc.), and university affiliation). Acceptances will be sent no later than mid-April.

Please note: the workshop is a two-day event that will take place July 6th and 7th, 2023.
