The 19th annual California State University Bakersfield Philosophy & Religious Studies Undergraduate conference will be held in person from 10.00am to 4.30 pm on May 5th, 2023. The conference will showcase the work of undergraduate students in both philosophy or religious studies and will offer a place for students to come together and discuss issues in their discipline with both professors and their peers. The conference serves as an excellent opportunity for students to widen their academic network and be exposed to work in a broad range of areas.
Our keynote speaker, Mark Fedyk, is an associate professor at the UC Davis School of Medicine Bioethics Program and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing where he teaches in the Doctor of Philosophy Degree Program and serves as a member of the Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership Education Policy and Curriculum Development Subcommittee.Professor Fedyk’s research intersects with topics in cognitive science, ethics, and the social sciences. His works brings ethical questions to bear on questions about scientific progress, emphasizing the need for ethical considerations to play a prominent role in scientific research.
