New Directions in Democratic Theory:

OZSW Work in Progress Workshop in Political Philosophy

June 8, 2023

This workshop brings together political philosophers who focus on contemporary challenges faced by democratic regimes, including oligarchic capture and democratic backsliding. We will explore whether novel institutional mechanisms, such as tribunates, and non-Western philosophical traditions can be employed to address these challenges both within nation states and in the context of EU politics.
