We invite undergraduate and graduate students to present papers in all areas of study concerning black and/or African American thought, experiences, struggles, and life. The Ida B. Wells Conference was founded by University of Memphis graduate students to promote discussion of philosophical issues arising from the African American experience and to provide a context in which to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Please send a 5-7 sentence description of your presentation or paper by September 1, 2023 to Lindsey Stewart at [email protected]. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by September 6, 2023.
Conference participants will recieve: 1) an opportunity to present their research and receive feedback in a supportive environment; 2) valuable information on how to apply and prepare for graduate school as well as how to navigate the job market; 3) networking opportunities within one of the top programs in African American and black feminist philosohpy; and 4) a chance to visit the inspiring Ida B. Wells-Barnett Museum.
