Mathematical intuition is a longstanding topic of research in the philosophy and history of mathematics. Two workshops (Nancy in May 2023, Liège in November 2023) will aim at bringing together researchers from the philosophy, history, psychology and pedagogy of mathematics to present recent advances on mathematical intuition from different perspectives and approaches.
These two workshops are jointly organized by Andrew Arana and Gerhard Heinzmann from the Université de Lorraine, and Yacin Hamami and Bruno Leclercq from the Université de Liège.
The present call for papers concerns the Liège workshop which will be composed of 10 invited talks and 5 contributed talks. Instructions on how to submit an abstract are provided below.
== Confirmed Speakers
Andrew Arana (Université de Lorraine)
Paola Cantù (CNRS, Aix-Marseille Université)
Christophe Eckes (Université de Lorraine)
Valeria Giardino (CNRS, Institut Jean Nicod)
Gerhard Heinzmann (Université de Lorraine)
Matthew Inglis (Loughborough University)
Véronique Izard (CNRS, Université Paris Cité)
Jemma Lorenat (Pitzer College)
Tabea Rohr (CNRS, Université Paris Cité)
Daniel Usma Gomez (Université de Lorraine)
== Location
The workshop will take place in the salle des professeurs located in the main building of the Université de Liège on 20 Août square (place du 20 août), 4000 Liège, Belgium.
== Call for Abstracts
Five time slots are reserved for contributed talks (all the talks will be in person, so it is not possible to submit an abstract for an online talk). We welcome abstract submissions on any aspects of mathematical intuition from researchers in the philosophy, history, psychology and pedagogy of mathematics. Priority will be given to abstracts that combine different perspectives on mathematical intuition. Abstracts should not be longer than 250 words. The deadline for abstract submission is July 1st. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by July 15th.
