Undergraduate Philosophy Conference

Fake Faiths: God, Beliefs and the Rationality of Assent

We invite undergraduate philosophy and theology students to submit abstracts for the undergraduate section of the philosophy conference organized by the team of the Online Master’s in Philosophy, Theology and Religion of the University of Lucerne. The conference will take place in Lucerne from July 3rd to July 5th, with the undergraduate section on July 5th.

Speakers include: G. Ventimiglia (Lucerne), K. Dormandy (Innsbruck), , R.T. Mullins (Lucerne), T. Scrutton (Leeds), , and Amber Griffioen (Duke University).

We welcome papers on any topic in the philosophy of religion, although preference will be given to contributions within the field of epistemology and faith. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

·         Epistemological issues related to religious belief

·         Rationality and justification for belief in God

·         Arguments for and against the existence of God

·         Religious pluralism and diversity

·         The role of religious experience in belief formation

·         The relationship between faith and reason

·         The ethics of religious belief and practice

We cordially invite abstracts of up to 500 words for papers suited for a 30-minute presentation, either on Zoom or in-person.

The deadline for abstract submission is June 4th, and we kindly ask that you include your name, the presentation title, institution, and contact information along with your submission to [email protected]

We prioritize inclusivity and diversity, and therefore preference will be given to undergraduate students from underprivileged groups, in accordance with the University of Lucerne’s standard policy.
