The IX International Symposium on Ancient Studies - SIEA aims to bring together researchers, professors, and students dedicated to the study of Greco-Roman Antiquity, promoting the dissemination of their research and collaboration. The subject of the IX SIEA shall be the reflections of the ancients on human existence and our ways of acting and living, highlighting the close relationship between philosophical reflection and life. In this edition, it will also welcome scholars from Latin America devoted to the studies of the first two centuries of the history of ancient philosophy, namely, the so-called pre-Socratic philosophy. Through the examination of the themes and problems that the first generations of thinkers dealt with in their research and reflections, it is possible to perceive the survival and relevance of their proposals for issues that, despite the 2,500 years that separate us from them, still prompt us. With this meeting we intend to get to know each other better and establish cooperation networks to bring together researchers, teachers, and students, seeking the development of collaboration and exchange projects between Brazilian and Latin American universities.
