International Forum on Ethical and Moral Development and the Chinese Path to Modernization (November 24-26, 2023, Beijing Time, Southeast University, Nanjing, China)

Chinese society has achieved a historic transition from a moderately prosperous society to modernization. As China embarks on a new journey towards becoming a modern nation, what is the current state of ethical and moral development among the Chinese population? How does Chinese ethical culture creatively transform and innovate within the context of the Chinese path to modernization? What is the relationship between ethical and moral development and the Chinese path to modernization? What significance does Chinese ethical culture hold for the new form of human civilization? How can modern Chinese ethical and moral development establish a discourse and theoretical system in the context of cultural dialogue? What cultural strategies should contemporary Chinese ethical and moral development adopt? These critical theoretical and practical questions demand timely answers based on cultural dialogue.

The Moral Development Institute of Southeast University, along with the Ethics Development Think Tank, the Synergistic Innovation Center for Civil Ethics and Social Trends, conducted four nationwide surveys and seven Jiangsu province surveys in 2007, 2013, 2017, and 2022, resulting in the publication of the "China Ethical and Moral Development Database" consisting of seven volumes and over 10 million words, as well as the "China Ethical and Moral Development Report" with seven volumes and nearly five million words. At the end of 2022, they completed the nationwide survey on "China's Ethical and Moral Development Towards Modernization," establishing a database on ethical and moral development among the Chinese population during the transition from a moderately prosperous society to modernization, and conducting systematic analysis and research.

Based on the academic preparations and accumulations mentioned above, the Moral Development Institute of Southeast University (Ethics Development Think Tank, Synergistic Innovation Center for Civil Ethics and Social Trends), in collaboration with the School of Humanities of Southeast University, will jointly host the "International Forum on Ethical and Moral Development and the Chinese Path to Modernization." During the forum, the release of the "China's Ethical and Moral Development Towards Modernization" database and research report will gather the intellectual contributions of outstanding scholars in ethics from both domestic and international arenas, engaging in theoretical discussions and strategic planning on related frontier issues.

The forum will select participants based on submitted papers and special invitations. Those interested in attending should write a paper related to the conference theme and topics. You may first complete the conference reply form and send the conference paper before the paper submission deadline. Please indicate "International Forum on Ethical and Moral Development and the Chinese Path to Modernization" on the conference reply form and paper. The organizers will review the papers and send formal invitation letters based on the review results.

The forum does not charge any registration fees, and participants will cover their own transportation and accommodation expenses.
