Aristotle proposes to us a research aimed at identifying a science that "considers being as being and the properties that belong to it as such", placing its distance from all other particular sciences which on the contrary do not investigate the being in its totality and universality but trying to identify an aspect of it and proposing to investigate around that specific reality of being, leaving aside everything that does not belong to those specific scientific disciplines, that is, everything that is outside of them field. We see precisely how the need arises immediately to identify a science that has an overall look at being as such, that investigates its properties and is not limited to certain aspects and their specific characteristics.

Aristotle sets mathematics as an example of such particular sciences.
