Hi Everyone,

The Society for Philosophy of Emotion (SPE) would like to secure affiliated group sessions at the 2024 Pacific APA, which will take place in Portland, Oregon: https://www.apaonline.org/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=1533436&group=

Session requests are due from the SPE by October 14, 2023, and we must provide complete session information (including all presenters, commentators, and chairs) at the time of the request. If you have a complete session that you would like to propose for an affiliated group session at the 2024 APA conference, please email me your request, along with the complete session information by October 13, 2023, at the latest.

Please also note the following about APA affiliated group sessions:

1) Anyone is allowed to participate in an affiliated group session, even those who are scheduled for a main APA session event. So, if you have a paper that was rejected for an APA main session and you are able to find a speaker and a chair in time, I highly recommend that you submit a proposal to present your paper. Note that many good papers were rejected for an APA main session due to scheduling limitations. So, that your paper was rejected does not necessarily imply anything about the quality of the paper.

2) All participation must be in-person (online participation will not be permitted), and all participants must register for the Pacific APA conference.

3) Unfortunately, participants of affiliated group sessions will not be able to apply for funding from the APA, but they may be able to provide for funding from their institution. I recommend you check with your institution, department, and student organizations.

4) The SPE may also be able to provide a very small sum to assist graduate students, disability access, and underfunded professionals. Please refer to our transparent financial report here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VYMZCKCQm5FhNiA8C6mUlWvABvR-04F8/view, and complete the subvention request form: https://www.philosophyofemotion.org/spe-members/spe-subvention-grant.

5) All participants in an SPE affiliated group must be a member of the SPE. Session participants will be asked to become a member if they are not already, once a session proposal has been accepted.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at cecileamun[at]icloud.com.

Best wishes,
