Call for Papers: 2024 Duke Graduate Conference in Political Theory

The Department of Political Science at Duke University will host its tenth annual Graduate Conference in Political Theory on February 22 and 23, 2024. Our keynote speaker will be Daniel J. Kapust of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Accepted participants will be reimbursed for travel and provided with lodging during the conference.

We seek completed drafts of papers from graduate students on any topic in the fields of political theory, political philosophy, the history of political thought, or related disciplines. We particularly welcome submissions that will engage a broad audience.

In addition to building community among graduate students from different institutions, this conference offers participants the opportunity to receive feedback on their work from scholars in the field. Each selected student paper will have its own faculty discussant drawn from the community at Duke or the broader Research Triangle. Participants are expected to attend the entire conference.

To apply, please submit a full draft of your paper up to 10,000 words long as a pdf. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, November 30, 2023. Applicants will be notified of their status by late December. Accepted conference participants will be required to circulate their final paper by Monday, February 1, 2023. If you have any further questions, please email [email protected].
