York University Seminar in Early Modern Philosophy

York University (Toronto, Canada)

The inaugural meeting of the York University Seminar in Early Modern Philosophy (YUSEMP) will take place at York University in Toronto, Canada on May 3–4, 2024. The seminar aims to be a small, informal venue for scholars of early modern philosophy at various career stages to share and discuss their work. We welcome abstracts on any aspect of early modern philosophy broadly construed (roughly, the sixteenth through eighteenth centuries), including early modern non-European philosophy. Unfortunately, the seminar cannot offer to cover the costs of travel or accommodation for speakers.

Anonymized abstracts (max 450 words) should be submitted by January 15, 2024 as an email attachment to [email protected]. Please include the following information in the main body of the email: name, affiliation, paper title, and whether you are a graduate student or early-career (untenured) scholar.

Invited speakers:

  • Marleen Rozemond (Toronto)
  • Patricia Sheridan (Guelph)

Program committee:

  • Zeyad El Nabolsy (York)
  • Matthew Leisinger (York)
  • Ian MacLean-Evans (York)
