The Political, Moral, and Legal Philosophy Research Group (POLEMO) at Central European University cordially invites abstract submissions for its annual conference, the 5th POLEMO Symposium on 16-17 May 2024 in Vienna, Austria. The Symposium provides a professional, stimulating, and international environment for Ph.D. students and early career researchers in political theory to discuss their works in progress, establish informal networks, and initiate future collaborative research. We are happy to announce that our keynote speakers for this year will be:

•Prof. Ajay Skaria (University of Minnesota)
•Prof. Niko Kolodny (University of California, Berkeley)

The conference is open to all topics in contemporary analytic political, legal and moral philosophy. We have reserved special slots this year for scholars engaging with African, Chinese, Indian, Latin American, Middle Eastern and other non-western traditions of political theory.

To apply, please send an abstract of no more than 500 words to [email protected] by 01 March 2024. Abstracts should be in PDF format and prepared for blind review. In the body of your email please include your name, institutional affiliation, and contact information. Final papers should be suitable for a 20-minute presentation, followed by a 25-minute discussion.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent out by 31 March 2024 and accepted
participants will be expected to send an extended abstract of 1500-2000 words by 01 May 2024. Scholars requiring a visa to enter Austria should mention this in their application so that they can receive an early decision on their abstract submission.

Conference attendance is free of charge and open to anyone upon registration. Please note that POLEMO is unable to provide financial assistance for applicants though lunches, dinners, and coffee breaks will be covered for the duration of the conference. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
