Details

Recently, the topics of skill, expertise, and control have been given a fair bit of attention on their own, demonstrating their complexity and significance to philosophy. And although these topics are central to subfields like the philosophy of action and epistemology, work on these topics has quickly transcended these subfields, connecting in many ways with social philosophy, cognitive science, social epistemology, and other areas. The aim of this workshop is to bring together scholars engaged in different facets of these topics to discuss and get feedback on new ideas from others deeply engaged in them.

This is a call for abstracts to add an additional 3 speakers to an already stellar line-up of invited speakers (Lilian O'Brien, Santiago Amaya, Carlotta Pavese, Jules Solomone-Sehr, Elisabeth Pacherie, Juan Pablo Bermúdez, Michel Croce, Francesca Secco). Anyone may submit, but the ambition is to favor submissions by junior scholars.

Abstracts of 500 words or less should be submitted to [email protected] by (or on) March 7th. Decisions will be made by March 20th.

While we cannot guarantee that complete costs will be covered, there will be bursaries for up to €500.

The abstracts can be on any topic related to topics of skill, expertise, and control either directly on these topics or applications thereof. Of particular interest may be work on moral skill and expertise, but those submitting need not feel constrained to this.

This workshop is the second in a series of five as a part of the ERC funded project 'Corporate Moral Progress' (with Kenneth Silver as the PI). While the project itself is centrally within business ethics, the workshop is a broader attempt to push the frontiers of the field on skill/expertise/control and to find ways to bring that work to bear on the question of corporate agency.
