Political Philosophy & Public Policy Workshop

May 20-21, 2024, Newcastle University

Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK

For the third consecutive year, the Political Philosophy & Public Policy Workshop at Newcastle University will bring together political philosophers and theorists working in the field. Spread across two days, speakers will present work in progress on topics such as housing, public health, childcare, education, and environmental protection. The workshop aims to help advance research on various policy areas, to explore the connections between them, and to reflect broadly on approaches to applying political philosophy to questions of public policy.

With generous support from the Society of Applied Philosophy, the workshop will feature a mix of invited and contribution presentations. Papers will be pre-read.

We aim to include at least two presentations by early-career researchers (advanced PhD students, post-docs, or scholars without a permanent position) and invite submissions on any topic within the theme of political philosophy and public policy, broadly defined. We especially welcome submissions from women and under-represented minorities. Travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed.

Papers of up to 8,000 words (unpublished at the time of submission) should be submitted by March 15, 2024. Applicants will be notified by April 1. For additional information and submission of papers, please contact Johannes Kniess ([email protected]).
