Call for Abstracts: This workshop aims to explore the legacies of the curriculum and pedagogical practices of U.S. Boarding Schools for Native American children. Proposed topics would ideally focus on ways in which these curriculum and pedagogical practices of Native American boarding schools impacted, and continue to impact, practices of western educational institutions. Abstracts should, in some way, aim to identify and explain pedagogical practices or lesson plans that are meant to combat or oppose pedagogical legacies of Native American boarding schools. Please send submissions as a PDF to [email protected] no later than April 30th, 2024. Submissions should include: (1) an abstract of no more than 500 words for a proposed paper, and (2) a biographical statement (name, tribal affiliation (if any), academic standing (e.g., grad student, instructor, assistant professor, etc.), and university affiliation). Acceptances will be sent no later than mid-April.

Please note: the workshop is a three-day event that will take place July 5th-9th 2024 (4 nights) in Carlisle, PA and West Chester, PA.
