The third conference of the Society for Christian Bioethicists will take place online between the 11th - 12th October 2024. The theme of the conference is fearfully and wonderfully made: human dignity from beginning of life to end of life. This theme is meant to draw out engagement with a variety of issues relating to understanding, protecting, and respecting human dignity across the lifespan.
The event will include a keynote address from David Hershenov, Erika Bachiochi, and John Lennox.
There will also be the opportunity for 20 minute presentations (plus 10 minutes for questions) from anyone at any stage of their career. We invite those working in the area of bioethics to submit abstracts of 200-500 words for consideration. Any topic of interest to Christians in bioethics will be considered, and papers need not be framed in a specifically Christian way. While the society is committed to Christian teaching in its constitution, anyone of any faith (or none) is welcome to submit papers, and submissions expositing any viewpoint will be fairly considered for the conference. We believe that informed and respectful disagreement can be of benefit to all.
Papers that relate to the theme could include, but are not limited to, issues such as the origins of dignity, moral status, how to support persons with disabilities, beginning-of-life issues, end-of-life issues, patient wellbeing, and individual and societal flourishing.
We also welcome submissions of any topic of interest to Christians in bioethics even if they are not related to the theme. The following non-exhaustive list of topics might be helpful for applicants to consider:

Animal ethics

Conscience / conscientious objection
