Philosophy & Legal Theory Collaborative Inaugural Workshop, June 5, 2024, University of Colorado, Boulder
On June 5, 2024, the day before the beginning of the Law and Society Association Annual Meeting in Denver, the Philosophy & Legal Theory Collaborative will host a workshop at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
It is not necessary to participate in the Law and Society Association meeting to participate in the Philosophy & Legal Theory Collaborative June 5th workshop. However, the Philosophy & Legal Theory Collaborative is sponsoring a set of panels at the Law and Society Association meeting in Denver Colorado, from June 6 to June 9.
Professor David Boonin will deliver a keynote address at the June 5th workshop.
The workshop will feature two formats not available at the LSA: 1. longer paper presentations and 2. 'ideas incubators' to discuss provisional ideas before developing them into full drafts (or deciding that another idea would make for the better paper).
The range of topics for Philosophy & Legal Theory Collaborative workshop are the same as the Philosophy & Legal Theory LSA panels: philosophy of law and individual legal questions from all philosophical traditions (e.g. analytic, continental, non-western, critical theory) as well as political philosophy, political theory, moral philosophy, social epistemology, social ontology, moral psychology, philosophy of action and decision theory on topics relevant to law or socio-legal topics.
You are welcome to present a longer form of your LSA paper if you presenting at LSA, or you can present a different paper or incubator idea for discussion.
If you would like to present a paper or participate in an incubator session, please send an anonymized abstract between 250 and 800 words describing the paper or incubator idea to [email protected] by May 5th 2024.
Proposals will be reviewed as they are received, so people proposing papers or incubator ideas will be notified as soon as possible so they can plan accordingly. It would therefore also be an advantage to submit proposals earlier before the time alotted fills up. Announcement of a schedule will be made by May 9th.
If you would be willing to act as a discussant for the workshop, please also write to [email protected] .
If you would like to join, without presenting or commenting, please also send an email to [email protected] .
