This workshop aims to bring together scholars who work on the topic of reproduction, broadly construed. We are particularly interested in work that places medical histories related to conceiving of pregnancy, gestation, and birth in conversation with philosophical analyses of the meaning of generation/reproduction from antiquity to today. This may include topics related to social and biological reproduction, carework, reproductive justice, abortion, metaphors of pregnancy, reproductive violence and oppression, and reproductive flourishing.
Those interested should submit papers that engage any of these themes. Papers should be ~3000 words in length and submitted to [email protected] by May 15th, 2024 for consideration.
The workshop will take place in Asheville, North Carolina August 5-9th, 2024. A registration fee of roughly $350-500 per participant will cover workshop costs.
